Founder | Manual Therapy Specialist | Connective Tissue Expert
With over three decades of clinical experience, Ben Grotenhuis is dedicated to helping people move better and feel better by going beyond conventional physical therapy. As the founder of AllConnected Physical Therapy, Ben specializes in identifying the root causes of pain and dysfunction—especially those overlooked by standard evaluations.
His advanced training in Stecco Fascial Manipulation® and Trigger Point Dry Needling allows him to treat complex musculoskeletal and internal conditions by targeting the body’s connective tissue system. Ben is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapists (FAAOMPT), a designation held by fewer than 1% of physical therapists nationwide.
Ben takes the time to listen, investigate, and treat you as a whole person—not just your symptoms. Whether you're dealing with chronic pain, sports injuries, post-surgical limitations, or unexplained internal dysfunction, he brings a depth of expertise and a hands-on approach focused on long-term outcomes.
“My goal isn’t just to get you moving—it’s to help your body function better at every level.”
His passion for teaching has also been recognized:
In 2007, he was honored with the Hallvard Award from the Ola Grimsby Institute in San Diego, CA.
In 2015, he received the Clinical Instructor of the Year Award from the Illinois Physical Therapy Association.
With his many years of clinical experience, Ben has learned that staying curious, connected, and committed to listening—to both the body and the patient—is essential for true healing. He continues to evolve his practice through education, exploration, and a deep respect for the body’s fascial and functional complexity.

My History with Joint Pain and Fascia
By Ben Grotenhuis, PT, CMTPT, FAAOMPT, FMID - AllConnected Physical Therapy
From Mechanics to Meaning
Early in my career, I approached joint pain like many clinicians do—through the lens of biomechanics. Muscles, joints, and movement patterns were treated in isolation. But over time, I began to see that the puzzle was bigger—and the missing piece was fascia.
The Fascial Shift
My introduction to fascial manipulation in 2012, particularly the Stecco Method®, was transformative. It opened my eyes to a deeper understanding of how:
Tension in fascial planes affects joint function.
Densifications or restrictions in one area (e.g., lateral thigh) can refer pain to the back, the knee, hip, or even foot.
Chronic joint issues often stem not from the joint itself, but from dysfunctional fascial lines or viscero-somatic relationships.
Treating Joint Pain Differently
Now, I rarely treat joint pain without first considering:
Fascial densification or glide dysfunction.
Myofascial chains and how they load or protect a joint.
Neuromyofascial connections that link visceral stress to musculoskeletal symptoms.
Dry needling, manual fascial release, and precise movement retraining allow me to not just chase pain—but resolve its origin.
A More Human Model
This work isn’t just technical—it’s relational. I listen closely, because the story often tells me where the pain truly began. Healing comes when we reconnect the systems of the body and the stories of the person.
“Without the Lens of Connection, the Patient’s Story Becomes Fragmented.”

“Not in his goals but in his transitions man is great.”
We thrive when we grow together. Like the human body, our lives are deeply interconnected—and so is the path to healing. That’s why at AllConnected, we specialize in Fascial Manipulation, an evidence-based approach that looks beyond symptoms to address the root causes of pain and dysfunction.
Here, we don’t just treat injuries. We consider the whole person.
